OVERVIEW
In this project, I was given the story of Felix, a young boy navigating the bleak remains of a post-apocalyptic world, where nature has vanished entirely. While playing a simple game of hide and seek with his father — one of the few remaining comforts in their stark reality — Felix stumbles upon a hidden passage to a lush, unfamiliar world. What begins as a moment of escape quickly becomes something more mysterious and transformative. After spending time in this strange new place, Felix ultimately returns, changed in ways neither he nor his father fully understand. The aim was to explore this quiet yet surreal journey through a lens that blends wonder with melancholy, capturing both the loneliness of the world left behind and the fragile hope of the one discovered.
Challenges & Approach
Spoilers ahead — For Spirilka, I came on board during production and quickly set up my own workflow to adapt. I recorded and edited key scenes solo, built a library of ADR and Foley from scratch, and designed a unique soundscape using many techniques to create fully custom textures. I also reworked the original score, producing both an instrumental version and a film-centric, fully reimagined one. The result is a rich, layered sonic world that supports the film’s emotional and fantastical tone — from the smallest breath to full musical themes.
The result
This project pushed me to tap into my full range of skills. Rather than relying on any production audio, I built the entire soundscape from the ground up — every element was crafted, sourced, or recorded independently to create a world that felt entirely original and sonically cohesive.
